Why does it make sense to carry out the tolerance analysis/stackup? (page 1 of 2)

The tolerance analysis is the method describing and analysing the causes of production faults in a multi-stage process. The result of a tolerance stackup is a mathematical model showing the connection between the process capability of the single process step and the resulting complete deviation."

Several companies have internal processes implemented to control and optimise the tolerances in any phase of the development process. For this all departments (development, assembly, production, quality) and also the suppliers collaborate. The development of a continuous tolerance concept is the result of several iteration loops with the target to reach the optimum.
